Oral health in rural and remote area

 Oral Health Crisis

The majority of dentists practicing in rural and remote areas are getting old, and are more likely to take their retirement which can compromise the availability of dental services (Rural assistance center, 2002). Such a shortfall of dental workforce may seriously hamper the efforts that need to be made to improve the oral health of the community.

The high prevalence of early childhood caries in the indigenous children of Canada requires major efforts for service delivery to treat untreated lesions, at the same time implement strategies for community based health promotion and disease prevention.
